Photo Critique

I love that in this photo that there is a sense of motion and urgency around these two men. But for them they are having all the time in the world. Where you clearly see that they are the subject matter of this photo. Stopped forever in time.  The use of shape is apparent with the silhouette of the two men, there is no detail in the bodies.

            There is the rule of thirds in this photo. Where you’re eyes start in the bottom right corner of the photo and works its way to the two men which are in the two different contrasts of light. Where the light hits the back of the men and they are headed in to the shadowed portion of the photo. Then the photo really opens up behind them. Where you see the bustling city where people are running across the street to get out of harms way from cars. While the two men casually just stroll across the street.

                     I find the photo perfectly cropped and contrasted. Where it adds a sense of not asking where this photo is located, why the men are crossing the street. It just adds that the two men are friends. They are walking together as a pair. No worry in their life. So in this case while looking at their feet there is a scene of symmetries. The two men are in the same posture at the same time. They are in sync with each other. They aren’t worried about anything else except for each other.  That is why I find this photo to be a great one.

It is self-doubt. It's a daily opposing challenge.

Both sides have a major impact on the outcome.
